Our simulation person program, which has been in place since 2008, is an important component of our teaching. With the help of currently around 25 actors as simulated patients, conversation situations between doctors and patients can be simulated and then analyzed.
The simulated persons are thus placed before direct contact with real patients. This has many advantages. For example, individual aspects of a conversation can be dealt with in detail and real patients can be relieved by the use of actors. It also allows the patient's perspective to be explored in a targeted manner, which in turn leads to improved contact and a more trusting relationship between doctors and patients.
With this method, communication skills and abilities in particular are practiced in a protected environment. This includes all types of communication between doctors and patients. Starting with the basics of a medical history interview, as taught in the Medical Interviewing 1 course, or more in-depth in a ward round interview in the MTC Ward Management module, through to emotionally complex conversations and breaking bad news in Medical Interviewing 3.
Simulation persons
Most of our simulators are trained actors and can therefore simulate different types of patients and illnesses. Furthermore, our simulators receive regular training in feedback culture so that they can provide our students with helpful feedback from the patient's perspective.
Are you interested in supporting us as a Simulation person?
If
- you have training as an actor or adequate experience,
- constructive and respectful communication is important to you,
- you are reliable, punctual and available during the day (by arrangement),
- you enjoy working with students and
- you respect aspects of trust,
we look forward to receiving your application:
- First, send us an e-mail to mtc.sto@mh.tum.de
- We will then send you an application form, which you should return to us with a recent photo.
- We will put you on our waiting list and contact you as soon as we accept people with your profile again. Please understand that this may take a little longer, as demand depends on the cases used in teaching.
- If required, we will invite you to get to know us. If there is mutual interest, we will train and deploy you as a simulator.
We look forward to hearing from you!
