New treatment options are tested in clinical trials and the efficacy, tolerability and safety of new active substances are tested according to strict regulations. Numerous clinical trials are carried out at a university cancer center. This gives patients early access to innovative treatment options.
We would like to inform you about the most important questions regarding clinical trials. In addition, you can contact your attending physician at any time.
The most important information at a glance
Participation in a clinical trial is voluntary and can be terminated at any time without giving reasons.
The objectives of clinical trials are varied, including investigating new active substances, conducting therapy optimization studies or investigating non-drug or diagnostic methods.
There are clinical trials for patients at all stages of cancer.
Patients who decide to take part in a clinical trial are informed in detail by a doctor using the patient information leaflet. The therapy is closely monitored by experts.
Clinical trials do not limit access to other treatment options.
Testing new substances against so-called placebos is only rarely used in cancer medicine.
