Internship abroad

Students enrolled in the B.Sc. Sport or Health Sciences program must complete a mandatory internship. This internship, as well as additional voluntary internships, can also be completed abroad.

Internships abroad are also possible within the framework of Master's or teaching degree programs.

Even after graduation, internships can be funded through Erasmus+ as long as you have submitted the appropriate application before withdrawing from the university and complete the internship abroad within one year of graduation.

Students who would like to complete an internship abroad have the following options for finding internship placements or, if applicable, obtaining funding.

Unfortunately, internships abroad can not be arranged by the School / the Student Office.

  • The Erasmus+ internship programme provides financial support, meaning that you are free to choose your internship placement. The internship can be carried out in a company or a research institution; however, it must be meaningfully related to your field of study.
  • Participation and funding are possible from the very beginning of your studies.
  • The minimum funding period is two months (60 days). You may receive funding multiple times per study cycle, but not for more than 12 months within one cycle.
  • Stays in Erasmus countries are funded, and—if sufficient funds are available—also placements outside these countries.
  • Graduate internships (internships after completing a degree) can also be funded for up to 12 months after graduation, provided that the application was submitted during the final year of studies.

AIESEC is an international exchange organization that arranges internships and social projects abroad for young people. AIESEC collaborates with NGOs and start-ups in various partner countries on projects related to education, equality, the environment, and culture.

IAESTE is an international, nonpolitical, independent organization for the exchange of internships abroad.

IAESTE internships are mainly in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), with some exceptions.

RISE Worldwide offers summer research internships across the world to undergraduate students from Germany with academic training in biology, chemistry, computer science,  physics, earth sciences, engineering or closely related fields.

Bachelor’s students may apply from the second semester onwards.
